What’s up, how are you?
Very good too and hi everyone in our first intermediate level podcast, in this podcast we wanted to introduce ourselves, so that you get to know us a little, who we are, how we go and what we do and all of that, ok starting with you Lis, tell us where you are from
Well, hello everyone again, I was born in Bogotá, which is the capital of Colombia, and well I studied in university, I did my degree in Law and afterwards I started an internship in Congress and that’s where I worked almost two years, and that’s all, all of my work history in Colombia and after that I wanted to start to speak another language, so well English had to be the first, that’s why I decided to save some money and travel here to England, because my sister was already here, so I decided to travel to London, because my sister was already here and well I always had the curiosity to come to know London
Yes and anyway, and I started and arrived almost more than two years ago, I started studying English, the first 6 months were very cool as a tourist, getting to know, and then when the money ran out, things got a bit complicated, but well, I continued, I continued with my studies and today, I am doing a master's degree in comparative commercial law and transnational justice, so I am very happy, with this project and that's basically what I have done and Rob, tell us what you do and where you come from?
Well, I’m going to start with the second question, where I come from, I’m not Colombian, nor Spanish, I’m from England, from London the capital and I learnt all my Spanish, well the majority of my Spanish in Spain, in a city which is called Valencia, where I went to work as a teacher, but also after two years in Spain I decided to go around the world to see how everything is and as I already knew Spanish, I thought that it was a good idea to travel around South America, so I went to Ecuador and worked with an environment development project there
In the Amazon, that was during a few months and after that I travelled around Colombia, your beloved land, I got to know many sites including, including Bogotá, and I loved it
I don’t know, I loved Bogotá, it was very interesting there, but I also liked the sun of the cost, the cities of the north, such as Cartagena, Santa Marta, also Medellín, and after that I returned here to England and now I’m working with a marketing company, and very happy
It’s a hurry here, but anyway the weekends I take advantage of to go out running a little, or to go out with my sister, spend time with here over a beer and talk about life, I think that’s my favourite plan
Yes, that has been my favourite plan even in Colombia, with my older sister, that on Sundays we always got together, at home after lunch or in the afternoon, we put music on, some wines, talking and talking, very nice
Yes, and anyway I started up and arrived almost two years ago, I started studying English, the first six months very cool like a tourist, getting to know, and afterwards when the money started running out, things started to complicate a little, but anyway, I carried on with my studies and today, I’m doing a Masters in Comparative Commercial Law and Transnational Justice, so I’m very happy, with this project, basically that’s what I’ve done, and Rob tell us what you do and where you come from?
Well I also don’t have much unfortunately, but I dedicate myself to music, I love music, that’s to say, I play the piano and I like to play the piano very much, I do it when I can, although I don’t have a piano here in London, every time it’s possible I got to play the piano and the guitar as well
At the moment, like for example, just before Christmas, I was crazy about chess
I loved it, I was watching videos on YouTube about chess, watching chess competitions, reading about chess, playing a lot on my phone and also with you, and with whomever wanted to play
Like 3 or 4 months, I also like it, I also like chess a lot but I do it to rest my mind and relax because the concentration goes on chess
Ah yes, well here you have me bewitched
Very well, well we are Rob and Lis of Spanish Obsessed, we hope that now you know us a little better, who we are, what we do, and all of that
And above all Rob, I’ve been getting involved in the topic because I’m studying English and all of this story, but he is quite restless with the topic of different languages and the accents and phonetics and grammar, so something that I know we have in common with you the listeners, is that interest in discovering other languages
